How To {Button Earrings}

Awhile ago I stumbled upon a DIY on Say Yes to Hoboken from Claire of fellow fellow on button earrings. I have a collection of vintage buttons from my grandmother and mother that has just been piling up not being used, and I knew that this was the perfect thing to do with them. You can never have enough dainty earrings so I wanted to share this ingenious and simple DIY with you. Don’t forget to check out these two blogs too, they always share great ideas!

You’ll Need:
  • Matching buttons {I cleaned mine before with some rubbing alcohol. You can use a jewelry cleaner too}
  • Small pair of pliers
  • Sanding paper {I used a sanding sponge because that was the only thing I had on hand}
  • Glue gun
  • Earring stems and clasps for studs

Cut the backs of the buttons with your pliers as flat as possible.

Sand to remove the sharp edges and flatten even more.

Lay your buttons flat, facing down and place a small dab of glue on the head of the stem. Place gently in the center of the button. Be careful not to use too much glue, if you do then wipe it off with a cotton swab. {If the buttons are large like the ones shown above, place the stem towards one side so that they don’t droop down when you wear them}

The glue dries instantly, but let them stand over night before wearing.

The gold swirling ones were always my favorite, now I can wear them!

Leave it to fellow fellow for a super fast diy!
