Traveling To…Tucson Botanical Gardens

IMG_2730My recent trip to the Tucson Botanical Gardens was a perfect afternoon filled with three of me and my father’s greatest passions; travel, nature and photography. I have been wanting to see the gardens since I first moved here, so I was quiet excited when my dad mentioned he wanted to go. I figured he would be the one person who was looking forward to visiting the gardens as much as I was. We each went our separate ways, capturing different angles of the same patch of basil or field of cacti.

I’ll admit I became rather nostalgic. I’ve been missing green trees, the smell of fresh cut grass on a dewy morning, beautiful lush flower gardens, and not to mention the sweet salty smell of ocean water. I’ve said it many times before, that I’m very affected by nature and my surroundings. Maybe that’s what has gotten to me lately, I’ve fallen into the dryness of Tucson. The heat has officially scared natives away, making them hide inside leaving no one to roam the streets on an early breezy morning than me and the dogs. Back home, we’re outside no matter how hot, humid, or mosquito ridden it is. Which is why I’m beyond excited to be going back home to for the 4th of July. You can’t get more Americana than the beach, watching the New York City fireworks from Hoboken, barbecues and bon fires, boat rides and of course smiles and great laughs shared with family and friends over amazing food.

So instead of telling myself everyday that I need to research plant care in the Southwest, since I can’t seem to get it right, I decided why not just learn hands-on.The Tucson Botanical Garden is a lovely garden that also offers classes for a novice like myself to experts, along with their butterfly exhibit, and is a great place to spend the afternoon surrounded by nature…when it’s not so hot!
